This is a 10,200m2 STEM facility which contains teaching and research laboratories with the ability to switch from undergraduate to postgraduate requirements to maximise infrastructure usage for year-round optimisation. Spaces are also designed to switch from Life Sciences to Engineering, responding to industry variables. Integrating environmental sciences with molecular and microbiology, the centre creates changeable PC1/PC2 regulatory barriers. The arrangement and placement of teaching and research laboratories was essential to address “immutably flexible laboratory use”. Modelling of this kind will be invaluable to achieve “value for money maximisation”.
