The CSIRO Australian Cotton Research Institute (ACRI) is co-located with the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), outside Narrabri in NSW. There are approximately 110 NSW DPI and CSIRO staff based at the site conducting various types of cotton research.

The new Cotton Processing Facility includes specialist storage spaces, multi-stage processing and long-term storage, low humidity-controlled environment high bay storage and single select pallet storage to support CSIRO’s world leading cotton research and development activities. The facility also includes a controlled environment suite with a flexible pressurisation capability, certified PC2 Plant and Local Quarantine laboratory, enabling analytical research of off-site samples. There is also a new Plant & Soil Field Facility, in support of site field activities and specialist equipment maintenance and calibration.
